Unveiling the Huawei nova 12 Ultra and Pro: Get Ready for Variable Aperture and Satellite Connectivity!
Huawei revealed the nova 12 series in China, which includes four smartphones: nova 12, nova 12 Lite, nova 12 Pro, and nova 12 Ultra. The nova 12 Ultra comes with a 6.76″ LTPO OLED display with a screen refresh rate of 1-120Hz and a resolution of 2,776×1,224 pixels. It also supports 1B colors and has a P3 wide color gamut. The display is protected by Kunlun Glass and has a center-aligned pill-shaped notch for two cameras – 60MP ultrawide and an 8MP unit for portraits.
The back of the nova 12 Ultra is covered with faux leather and has a 3D embossing of Huawei and Nova branding. It also features an elliptical camera island housing an LED flash, a laser focus sensor, a 50MP primary camera, and an 8MP ultrawide camera. It runs on HarmonyOS 4 and offers up to 1TB of storage. Additionally, it has satellite calling and messaging supported by a two-way Beidou satellite messaging system, and a 4,600 mAh battery that draws power through a USB-C port at up to 100W.
The nova 12 Pro is similar to the Ultra model but with one extra color option, more weight, and no faux leather back. It also has lower base storage and doesn’t offer a 1TB option.
Both phones are up for pre-orders in China through VMall, with the Pro going on sale starting January 5, 2024, and the Ultra becoming available on January 12, 2024.
The prices for the nova 12 Ultra start at CNY4,699 ($660/€600/INR54,700) for the 512GB option and go up to CNY5,499 ($770/€700/INR64,020) for the 1TB model. The nova 12 Pro starts at CNY3,999 ($560/€510/INR46,560) for the 256GB version and CNY4,399 ($615/€560/INR51,200) for the 512GB model.
