OpenAI Releases ChatGPT with Voice for All Users
OpenAI, the AI company, has announced that it is now rolling out its “ChatGPT with Voice” feature for all free users through its mobile app. This feature was previously only available for paying subscribers.
With the new feature, users can now tap the headphones icon in the app to start voicing their queries to ChatGPT. They also have the option to select their preferred AI voice for the interaction. This development comes after OpenAI’s initial launch of ChatGPT, which leverages the company’s text-to-speech model to create a “human-like” audio experience from text. Additionally, OpenAI’s collaboration with Whisper allows the open-source speech recognition software to transcribe a user’s spoken words into reviewable text.
In other news, OpenAI had faced internal conflict as it fired its CEO, Sam Altman, which resulted in its president, Greg Brockman, quitting. Following this, many employees called for the removal of the board, leading to a potential mass exodus from the company. However, the situation seems to have improved, as both Altman and Brockman have now returned to the company. Altman has resumed his previous role with a new initial board consisting of Bret Taylor (Chair), Larry Summers, and Adam D’Angelo.
This development marks a positive turn for OpenAI, as it continues to expand its features and resolve internal issues. Users of the mobile app can now enjoy the new “ChatGPT with Voice” feature, enhancing their experience with AI interaction. The company’s efforts to address internal conflicts and strengthen its leadership team also bode well for its future endeavors.
