Samsung Galaxy A55 Beats Competitors in Geekbench with Exynos 1480 SoC and Xclipse 530 GPU!
Samsung Galaxy A55 Prototype with AMD RDNA2-based Xclipse 530 GPU Spotted on Geekbench
A prototype of the Samsung Galaxy A55 has been spotted on Geekbench, revealing the interesting GPU choice made by Samsung. The A55 is expected to be marketed with the Exynos 1480 chipset, following in the footsteps of the A54 and the A53, which used the 1380 and 1280 chipsets respectively.
Unlike its predecessors, the A55 will not use a Mali GPU. Instead, it will opt for an AMD RDNA2-based Xclipse 530 GPU, as confirmed by the recent benchmark run. This new GPU theoretically has the ability to offer ray tracing in games, indicating a potential upgrade in gaming performance for the A55.
However, the CPU performance of the A55 prototype does not show significant improvements compared to the Exynos 1380. With a single-core score of 1,127 and a multi-core score of 2,090, the A55 falls slightly behind the A54, which scored about 1,108 and 2,797, respectively.
The prototype that ran Geekbench features 8GB of RAM, similar to the maximum amount available for the A54. Previous rumors suggest that the Galaxy A55 will have a 6.5-inch FHD+ 120 Hz OLED screen, a 50 MP main camera, and support for 25W wired charging.
The inclusion of the AMD RDNA2-based GPU signals a significant shift in Samsung’s approach to GPU choices for its smartphones. Fans of the A5x line can look forward to potential improvements in gaming performance, although the CPU performance may not see a major leap in the A55 compared to its predecessors.
