Google is slowly releasing a new feature to its users of the Pixel 8 Pro. This feature, called Video Boost, enhances videos shot on the device and sends them to the cloud and back. However, not all users will have access to this feature right away.

Video Boost adjusts color, lighting, stabilization, and graininess of the videos shot on the Pixel 8 Pro. It will capture videos in 4K resolution by default, but users can change the settings to get higher quality video, such as 10-bit HDR.

After shooting a video with Video Boost, the Pixel 8 Pro will save an initial video in 1080p resolution, which can be previewed, edited, and shared. This initial video will then be uploaded to the cloud with Google Photos, and the enhancement process will begin, which may take some time.

Once the enhancement is complete, the new video will be available for viewing and will be automatically downloaded to the device over Wi-Fi. However, there is a hard cap of 10 minutes for video storage when using Video Boost.

This feature won’t be enabled by default, but Google will prompt users to try it in certain dark lighting situations. To enable it, users can go to the video mode in the Pixel Camera app, tap the video settings, and turn on Video Boost.

Pixel 8 Pro users can check if they have access to Video Boost starting December 7, although the feature may not be immediately available to all. This new feature, along with the impressive AI capabilities of the Tensor chipset, makes the Pixel 8 Pro one of the best phones on the market.
