Apple Weather App to Receive New Widgets in iOS 17.2 Release
Apple has confirmed that a new set of widgets for the Apple Weather app will be available with the release of iOS 17.2. The upcoming update is set to be available to all users as early as the week of December 11, following a period of beta testing since October.
The new widgets will come in three different types, namely Details, Daily Forecast, and Sunrise and Sunset. Each widget offers different sets of data, such as the chance of precipitation, UV index, wind, and more. These new widgets will provide users with expanded choices and additional information compared to the existing Forecast widget.
To access the new widgets, users can simply long-press their Home screen or another app page to get the “+” icon in the top left corner, then search or swipe to the Weather widgets.
The release of iOS 17.2 will also bring a range of upgrades across the operating system, including improvements to Messages, the Action button, Camera, Weather, and Siri. Additionally, the Journal app will make its debut in this update.
It is important to note that the iOS 17.2 Release Candidate is available to developers and the public via the beta program and is required in order to access the new widgets.
While the Apple Weather app has faced criticism for accuracy and reliability in recent years, it is hoped that the addition of these new widgets will enhance the overall user experience. Users are encouraged to share their thoughts on the new widgets and update in the comments.
As anticipation builds for the release of iOS 17.2, users can look forward to experiencing the enhanced features and functionalities that will come with the new widgets.
