Unlock Pixel Buds Pro’s hidden feature: Quick Phrases support quietly added by Google!
Google Assistant Gets Quiet Update to Include Pixel Buds Pro in Quick Phrases
Google has quietly updated its Quick Phrases feature to include support for Pixel Buds Pro, marking the first time this feature has worked with earbuds. Quick Phrases were introduced in 2021 as a way to control Pixel phones and tablets without needing to say “Hey Google” first.
The updated page in the Google Assistant tab in Settings now reveals which devices are supported by each Quick Phrase. Notably, Pixel Buds Pro now support Quick Phrases with calls, allowing users to say “answer,” “decline,” or “silence” to take those actions on their phone without saying “Hey Google” first.
However, the Pixel Buds Pro do not currently support Quick Phrases for controlling timers and alarms. Despite this update, Quick Phrases still remains exclusive to Pixel 6 and newer devices.
It is worth mentioning that Google has not publicly acknowledged this change, and the support page for Quick Phrases still only mentions support for “Pixel 6 and later, including Fold.” Despite this, Quick Phrases are visible and working on the Pixel Buds Pro.
The addition of Quick Phrases to the Pixel Buds Pro comes shortly after the earbuds were refreshed with new colors and features. It remains to be seen if Google will further expand the Quick Phrases feature to include more devices in the future.
Overall, this quiet update from Google has made hands-free control of Pixel devices even easier for users who have access to Pixel Buds Pro. It will be interesting to see if Google continues to update and expand the feature to include more devices in the future.
