Garmin Announces New Dive Watches and Transceiver for Underwater Communication
Garmin has recently unveiled three new products designed for divers. The first is the premium Garmin Descent Mk3 dive computer, which is capable of diving down to 200 meters and features an AMOLED display, built-in flashlight, and Dive Readiness tracking. The second product is the more affordable G1 Solar Ocean Edition, made from 100% recycled ocean-bound plastics and has a battery life of 124 days. The third product is the Descent T2 transceiver, which allows divers to communicate underwater via sonar, check each other’s air tank levels, and even send out SOS signals in the event of an emergency.
While most watches are only designed to withstand shallow dives, these new Garmin products are specifically built for serious divers, offering specialized tools and features such as diveview maps, tide data, underwater compass, and different dive modes based on the type of gases used. The Descent Mk3 dive computer also comes with traditional workout tools and metrics, making it a versatile option for fitness enthusiasts. The Descent G1 Ocean Edition, on the other hand, offers similar diving features with a MIP display and a design made entirely of recycled ocean plastic.
The Descent Mk3 dive computer is available now with a starting price of $1,200, while the Descent G1 Ocean Edition is priced at $650. These new products have drawn attention from diving enthusiasts for their advanced features and durability. It is expected that the Garmin Descent series will appeal to divers looking for a reliable and functional diving companion.
