Get organized and never miss a bill payment with Google’s new Reminder feature in Photos app
Google Photos is getting a new feature that could help you avoid late payment fees. The app may soon be able to remind you to pay your bills on time. If you take photos of your bills and invoices, this new feature could come in handy.
Here’s how it works: When you select a photo of an invoice from the Google Photos app, a new option will appear called “Set Reminder.” When you tap on it, a pop-up will ask you to give the picture of the invoice a name, select the Calendar account you want the invoice to be synced with, and choose the date and time you want the reminder to appear on Google Calendar. The link to the photo will also be included automatically on the bottom of the pop-up.
The AI-based feature uses machine learning to determine if the subject of your photo is an invoice. This means it will only show the “Set Reminder” option on photos with text or dates. According to reports, the reminders will appear instantly on Google Calendar.
The new feature could be a money saver for those who often forget to pay their bills on time and end up with late fees. It’s currently hidden behind a flag, but it could soon be available to all users.
Google has already added Calendar permission in a recent version of the Google Photos app, and some users have been able to test the feature on version 6.61 of the app. It’s still unclear when the feature will be officially released, but it’s definitely something to look forward to for anyone who struggles to keep track of their bills.
