Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+ Revealed: What to Expect in the Latest Flagship Phones

Samsung will unveil the much-anticipated Galaxy S24 series on January 17, putting an end to the numerous rumors and leaks that have been circulating. Even though the official reveal is still two weeks away, there has been a lot of information leaked about the new devices.

The Galaxy S24+ is expected to feature a QHD+ resolution display, a significant upgrade from its previous FHD+ display. Additionally, both the S24 and S24+ will have larger screen diagonals, with 6.2″ and 6.7″ respectively. The new panels are also expected to be brighter, with a peak of 2600 nits compared to 1750 nits in the previous models.

In terms of battery capacity, the S24 and S24+ will both have slightly larger batteries than their predecessors. The S24 will be equipped with a 4000mAh battery, while the S24+ will have a 4900mAh battery. Both devices will support 15W wireless charging.

The new Galaxy S24 and S24+ will be powered by the Exynos 2400 chip, except for models in the US and Canada, which will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The Exynos 2400 chip promises a 70% increase in CPU performance and features a new Xclipse 940 GPU based on AMD’s RDNA 3 tech, offering 50% higher performance per watt over its predecessor.

The phones will maintain the same camera set up as the previous models, with a 50MP main sensor, 12MP ultra-wide lens, and 10MP telephoto lens. The selfie camera will also remain at 12MP.

Samsung is introducing a new version of Armor Aluminum for the frame of the Galaxy S24 and S24+, and the phones will be rated IP68 for dust and water resistance. The devices will come in four standard colors: Onyx Black, Marble Gray, Cobalt Violet, and Amber Yellow.

In terms of pricing, the Galaxy S24 and S24+ are expected to be €50 cheaper than their predecessors in the EU. Prices in South Korea are expected to remain the same, but there is no information available for the US or Canada at this time. It is expected that there will be trade-in offers and pre-order deals, including a free storage upgrade, to make upgrading to the new devices more affordable. Additionally, Samsung may offer discounts on other products such as the Galaxy Watch or Buds.
