Shocking: The Exorbitant Rise of Phone Pricing in India!
Phone Prices are Skyrocketing in India
Phone prices in India have been increasing rapidly over the past two years. A flagship phone now costs much more than it did before. For instance, the Samsung Galaxy S23 starts at ₹74,999, but the S23+ costs ₹94,999. To get the top-of-the-line S23 Ultra, you’ll need to pay ₹1,24,999. The iPhone is no exception. The iPhone 15 Pro starts at ₹1,34,900, and the 256GB iPhone 15 Pro Max is an exorbitant ₹1,59,900.
The increase in prices is puzzling considering that most brands have established local manufacturing facilities in India. Companies like Samsung, Apple, and Google have set up factories in the country, but this has not resulted in lower prices for consumers. Google, which still imports devices, states that it plans to start assembling Pixel devices in India, but this will take time to set up.
However, there is good news for consumers in India. Chinese manufacturers like OnePlus, Xiaomi, and Vivo offer their flagship devices in the country for a lot less than what they cost in other global markets. The OnePlus 11 debuted at ₹56,999, the Xiaomi 13 Pro costs ₹74,999, and the Vivo X90 Pro is priced at ₹72,900.
Even though these devices are much more affordable, they still deliver the latest cameras and hardware innovations. For example, the Google Pixel 7a costs only ₹39,999 and offers reliable hardware, a good OLED panel, great cameras, and clean software.
So, while flagship phones are getting more and more expensive in India, consumers still have affordable alternatives from Chinese manufacturers that provide great value for money.
