Honor Takes The Lead in China’s Foldable Smartphone Market
According to the latest Omdia report, Honor has emerged as the leader in foldable smartphone shipments in China for the period of July to September. The report states that Honor claimed an impressive 28% market share during the third quarter, surpassing Huawei, which held a 26% share in the Chinese foldable market.
Honor’s success can be attributed to the popularity of its Magic V2 model, which alone earned a 25% market share, contributing to a total of 1.7 million units of Honor foldables shipped during the period. Since its launch in late July, Omdia estimates that Honor has shipped over 800,000 units of the Magic V2 in China.
The top four brands in the foldable market share ranking were rounded out by Samsung at 19% and Oppo at 11%. Meanwhile, vivo, Xiaomi, and Motorola secured the remaining positions in the top seven list with 10%, 5%, and 1% market share, respectively.
Looking ahead, there are rumors that Honor is planning to launch a flip-style folding phone in the first quarter of 2024. If this new release is offered at an attractive starting price, it could further solidify Honor’s position as the leading brand in the foldable phone segment in China.
The Omdia report also suggests that Honor’s annual cumulative production of its foldable smartphones has surpassed 1 million units as of November 23.
Overall, Honor’s triumph in the Chinese foldable smartphone market demonstrates the brand’s ability to capture the interests of consumers with innovative and high-quality products. With its upcoming product launches and continued success, Honor is poised to maintain its leadership in the foldable phone segment in the foreseeable future.
