Honor Quietly Launches New Phone Ahead of Magic 6 Series
Just days before the end of 2023, Honor has surprised everyone by launching the Honor X50 Pro. This new phone was expected to debut in January, but it has made an early appearance. The company is focusing on its upcoming Magic 6 series, which will be unveiled on January 10, along with Magic OS 8.0.
The Honor X50 Pro is being marketed as an offline-focused device, intended to be sold primarily in physical stores. It comes in Green and Black shades and offers a single RAM/storage configuration of 12/256GB, priced at around $425.
Featuring a 6.78-inch curved OLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, the phone promises a smooth visual experience. The 10-bit screen supports 1920Hz PWM dimming and includes an in-display fingerprint scanner for added security.
On the camera front, the X50 Pro sports a 108MP main sensor and a 2MP macro lens in its circular camera module, along with an 8MP front-facing camera for selfies. The phone is relatively slim at 8.45mm and weighs 192g.
Under the hood, the Honor X50 Pro is powered by an underclocked version of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip and features a vapor cooling system to prevent overheating. It runs on Magic OS 7.2 based on Android 13 and is equipped with a 5800mAh capacity battery with support for 35W charging.
To add to the excitement, there are rumors that the X50 Pro may also be released as the Honor X50 GT, targeted for online sales. Honor has confirmed the launch of the X50 GT in China on January 6, boasting the same Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip as the X50 Pro.
With the unexpected launch of the Honor X50 Pro and the potential release of the X50 GT, the company is keeping consumers on their toes as they await the highly anticipated Magic 6 series.
