Claim your piece of Apple’s $25 million Family Sharing settlement – Here’s how!
Apple Lawsuit Settlement: Get Your Share of $25 Million
Last month, we reported that Apple had settled a lawsuit over its Family Sharing feature for $25 million. Now, we have new information about how much money claimants might receive and how to file a claim to get your share of the settlement.
The lawsuit, known as Walter Peters v. Apple, alleged that Apple deceived customers into believing they could share subscription-based apps with up to six family members, when in reality, the apps could only be used by the person who purchased the subscription.
The $25 million settlement has already been reduced by $10 million to pay attorney’s fees, leaving $15 million to be split among eligible claimants. The maximum payout per person is $50.
To qualify for a share of the settlement, you must be a U.S. resident who was enrolled in Apple Family Sharing with at least one other person between June 21, 2015, and January 30, 2019, and have purchased a subscription to a third-party app via the App Store during that time.
You can submit a claim online or by mail by visiting the Walter Peters v. Apple website. If you received a letter with a Payment ID and PIN, you can use those to submit your claim online. If not, you can print out a claim form from the website and mail it in.
If you were affected by Apple’s Family Sharing feature and meet the eligibility requirements, don’t miss out on your opportunity to claim your share of the settlement. Visit the website now to file your claim and receive the compensation you deserve.
