Upgrade Alert: Galaxy Watch 3 now running on Wear OS 4 after the latest update

Samsung is updating the Galaxy Watch 3 in Europe with new firmware. This update brings two new watch faces from the Galaxy Watch 6 to the TizenOS-powered smartwatch. The company aims to keep the Galaxy Watch 3 up to date with new features, despite the release of newer models.

The latest firmware for the Galaxy Watch 3 in Europe includes two new watch faces: Stretched Time and Perpetual. These watch faces were originally introduced with the One UI 5 Watch version, which debuted with the Galaxy Watch 6 and later added to the Watch 5 and Watch 4 series.

One interesting aspect of this update is that the Galaxy Watch 3 runs on Tizen OS, while the newer models use One UI. However, Samsung is still bringing new features from One UI 5 to the older model, as promised.

In addition to the new watch faces, the previous major update to the Galaxy Watch 3 brought Pro analog and Gradient number watch faces, as well as snore detection as a health feature. Despite the Tizen OS still being on version 5.5.0.2, the update is expected to extend to the Galaxy Watch Active 2 in the future.

Even though Samsung has moved to Wear OS for its newer models, the company is continuing to provide updates and new features for older smartwatches. The Galaxy Watch 3, released in 2020, and the Active 2, released in 2019, are still being supported with new firmware and features.

The Galaxy Watch 6, which is the latest model, features an upgraded Exynos chip, more RAM, and improved capacity bezels. However, the Galaxy Watch 3 is still a reliable device for daily use, notifications, and health monitoring. Samsung’s commitment to keeping older models up to date demonstrates its dedication to providing a quality user experience and ensuring that customers get the most out of their smartwatches.
