Shocking Results: Kirin 9000s Falls Short in Benchmarks Compared to 3-Year Old Predecessor
Nanoreview, a popular CPU comparison site, recently conducted a test on the new Huawei Kirin 9000s chipset and compared it to its predecessor, the Kirin 9000. The results showed that the new chip is slightly faster in CPU tests but significantly slower in graphics tasks. This is due to its dated architecture which makes it less efficient.
The Kirin 9000s uses four TaiShan V120 cores (1x 2.62GHz, 3x 2.15GHz) and four Cortex-A510 (at 1.53GHz), with a transistor size of 7nm. In comparison, the nearly three-year-older 5nm Kirin 9000’s four Cortex-A77 (1x 3.13GHz, 3x 2.54GHz) and four Cortex-A55 (2.05GHz).
In the Geekbench 6 test, the Kirin 9000s scored 1337 in single-core and 4123 in multi-core, while the Kirin 9000 scored 1266 in single-core and 3512 in multi-core. In the AnTuTu 10 test, the Kirin 9000 scored 909400, while the Kirin 9000s scored 904545.
However, on the graphics side, the Maleoon 910 inside the Kirin 9000s is inferior to the Mali-G78 inside the Kirin 9000. In the 3DMark Wild Life Performance test, the Kirin 9000 scored 6071, while the Kirin 9000s scored 5055.
Despite these differences, the Kirin 9000s is at the helm of a few phones, including the new Mate 60 series, and the upcoming Huawei nova 12 series. It is also being compared to the 2021 Snapdragon 888 to assess its performance.
