Shocking: Verizon Accused of Giving Female Customer’s Address to Stalker – Click to Read More!
The nation’s largest wireless carrier, Verizon, was tricked into giving a female customer’s address and phone data to a man pretending to be a police officer. According to court documents, the man, Robert Michael Glauner, was charged with stalking and fraud. He had a romantic relationship with the victim, but continued to contact her after she ended it.
Glauner obtained the victim’s address by sending a fake email and search warrant to Verizon. The email came from a Proton Mail address, and the request seemed urgent, claiming to be related to a suspect in a homicide. Verizon did not realize the request was fake, and provided the customer’s phone records, including her address and phone logs.
It was later revealed that Glauner met the woman on a dating section of a porn site and threatened to send her nude photos to her family members. He also traveled from New Mexico to North Carolina to meet her in person.
Verizon is cooperating with law enforcement, and Glauner is facing legal consequences for his actions. Additionally, at the time Glauner committed these actions, he was already wanted by the San Diego Sheriff’s Office for stalking an ex-girlfriend.
This incident serves as a reminder for companies to be vigilant and verify the authenticity of legal requests for customer information. Customers should be able to trust that their personal information is secure and protected from potential threats and scams.
