Boost Your Efficiency with Enhanced Smart Fill for Duet AI Users in Google Sheets!
Google released a new feature called Enhanced Smart Fill for Google Sheets this week, but it’s only available to Duet AI subscribers in Google Workspace. This tool uses artificial intelligence (AI) to detect relationships between data entries in multiple cells and suggest new data entries based on various criteria. However, Duet AI subscriptions are intended for business use and cost $30 per user, per month.
The Enhanced Smart Fill feature builds upon the existing Smart Fill feature, which was released in 2020. It goes beyond just detecting patterns between cell entries and can now suggest entries based on sentiment classification, combining and generating text, extracting specific text, formatting addresses, structuring phone numbers and emails, condensing text, and more.
Google provided examples of how Enhanced Smart Fill can save business time during data entry, such as generating next steps for a business’ sales cycle or custom thank you notes for donors based on their contribution details. However, the feature will need at least a few completed columns and cells before suggesting what to fill in the remaining cells.
For Duet AI users in Google Workspace, Enhanced Smart Fill is on by default, but suggestions will need to be manually accepted by the user before taking effect in the spreadsheet. This feature is part of Google’s suite of existing generative AI tools for paying Google Workspace customers, which are also found in Gmail, Google Docs, Google Slides, and Google Meet.
Despite its advanced capabilities, most users won’t be able to take advantage of Enhanced Smart Fill due to the exclusive nature of Duet AI subscriptions for business use. This demonstrates Google’s continued effort to integrate AI into its productivity tools, but also raises questions about accessibility and affordability for individual users. The $30 per month/per-user fee may limit the widespread adoption of this advanced AI feature in Google Sheets.
