Vivo Launches New S18 Series Smartphones

Vivo has just unveiled three new smartphones in its midrange S-series – the S18, S18 Pro, and S18e. The S18 and S18 Pro boast curved displays with the Pro version offering better cameras and a more powerful chipset. The S18e, on the other hand, features a flat display and a slightly less powerful chipset.

One of the main features of the S18 series is its attractive design with brocade elements etched on the back glass. The large camera island on the back houses the cameras and the AuraLight LED, which can be customized for different shooting scenarios. The S18 Pro comes with a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 12MP telephoto module with 2x optical zoom. The S18, on the other hand, features a 50MP main shooter with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide lens.

Both the S18 and S18 Pro have curved 6.78-inch AMOLED displays with a 120Hz refresh rate and a punch hole cutout for the 50MP front-facing camera. The S18 Pro is powered by MediaTek’s dimensity 9200+ chipset with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, while the S18 gets Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 and is also configurable with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

The S18 series runs on OriginOS 4 based on Android 14 and features 5,000 mAh batteries with 80W fast charging. The S18 is priced at CNY 2,299 ($322) for the base model, while the S18 Pro starts at CNY 3,199 ($448).

The S18e, on the other hand, comes with a flat 6.67-inch AMOLED display and a 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by a Dimensity 7200 chipset with 12GB of RAM and 256/512GB of storage. The S18e features a 50MP main sensor and a 16MP front-facing camera. It also runs on OriginOS 4 based on Android 14 and comes with a 4,800 mAh battery with 80W charging. The S18e is priced at CNY 2,099 ($294) for the base model.

The open sales for the S18 series in China will start on December 22 for the S18, January 13 for the S18 Pro, and January 13 for the S18e.
