Exciting News: Google Unveils Gemini Nano for Pixel 8 Pro in December 2023 Feature Drop

Google has officially released the December 2023 feature drop for its Pixel devices, including the highly anticipated Pixel 8 Pro. The update brings a range of new features and advancements, powered by the advanced AI model called Gemini. This AI model comes in three sizes: Ultra, Pro, and Nano, with the Nano model specifically designed for on-device tasks and now available on the Pixel 8 Pro.

One of the key features introduced with the Gemini Nano model is the “Summarize in Recorder,” which allows users to summarize recorded conversations on their device, such as interviews and presentations. Additionally, the Smart Reply functionality has been incorporated into Gboard, allowing it to be used in multiple messaging apps.

In terms of camera features, the update includes Video Boost, Night Sight Video, and improved Portrait light in Google Photos. The Pixel Fold is also receiving useful camera tools like Dual Screen Preview, which allows the subject to preview themselves on the cover screen while a photo is being taken.

Google has also enhanced other areas of its Pixel devices with the December feature drop. The Password Manager can now identify accounts that support passkeys, and the Repair mode gives Pixel owners peace of mind when giving their devices for repairs or service.

Furthermore, the Call Screen feature has been upgraded for the Pixel Fold, Pixel 6 series, and above, with the Google Assistant now suggesting contextual replies instead of taking calls alone. Other features include the ability for the Pixel Watch to unlock the Pixel phone when nearby, Clear Calling on the Pixel Tablet, and new calling features like Direct My Call and Hold for Me in the U.K.

On the productivity front, the Clock app is now displaying weather conditions via a widget or when viewing the World Clock tab, and the first-gen Pixel Watch is gaining some Pixel Watch 2 features, such as syncing Do Not Disturb and Bedtime Modes between the watch and smartphone.

All of these features and productivity tools are rolling out today on Pixel phones, Pixel Tablets, and Pixel Watches, making the devices even more versatile and user-friendly.
